No Longer Allowed to Die Quickly
Kids, smiling and laughing
Staring at a meat hook
Hanging from the ceiling.
They have impaled a
Small, white bunny upon it,
The metal point
Sticking out of its chest.
Blood trickles down
Its silky fur.
Dripping, it forms a puddle
On the floor.
They take amusement
As it squeals and thrashes,
Its eyes wide and pained.
It took an eternity
For that animal to die.
The children,
No longer entertained,
Walk away,
Leaving it there to hang.
